SIX THINGS TO TALK ABOUT
Andrew: Duke, no more | Fraud of the century? | Gross chats | Terrible reviews | Big dog news | Buy a hotel

🍸 Sleazy Prince Andrew has given up his titles - “Downfall of the disgraced Duke” as today’s Mail puts it - to avoid further distracting attention from the Royal Family’s good works.

Maybe they will recover. There’s even the suggestion that Andrew will win some form of redemption, although that seems far-fetched: the allegations against him are too sorded, the contradictions too much to bear, and the wider talk of the man’s attitude and behaviour too widespread and weighty, to be shrugged off.

It could still, of course, be a pre-emptive move: one can’t assume the revelations about - or repercussions of - his conduct are over. We have, after all, fully 40 years of his “grasping entitlement, poor judgment and boundless arrogance”, in the words of Richard Kay, to draw upon.

Andrew, it should be said, continues to “vigorously deny the accusations against me”. (Daily Mail)
